Playing nunchuk-style I have no problem (i haven't played it in a real wii, but to launch the opponent upwards i need to wave the wiimote downwards holding A, so I don't know if it's right), but playing classic controller pro or gamecube controller, there's no way to ascend or descend without spending ki (I press R and the player does not jump, i goes in full speed spending ki, which does not happen nunchuk-style, in which i press c and he jump normally).
